Mayor Carroll Publicover has announced a business relationship between a newly established Performing Arts group in Bridgewater with Empire Theatres Studio 7. The Performing Arts group was formed to help create a venue for live performances in Bridgewater. Empire Theatre will provide use of one of its auditoriums to the Performing Arts Group for live performances as scheduling permits. Empire Theatres, is an excellent venue to showcase a variety of talent. The theatre has comfortable seating, great acoustics and provides a lobby and refreshments area to enhance services to people attending live music and theatre performances.

A venue for live performances has been needed in Bridgewater for a long time said Mayor Publicover. The opportunity to use one of the auditoriums at Empire Theatres will provide one more venue on the South Shore for travelling performances.

Empire Theatres view this as a business opportunity assist the community in expanding its Performing Arts. The auditorium will be temporarily set up to accommodate each live performance. The Performing Arts Group hopes to hold at least one event each month, with the exception of May and November.

The first event to be held at Empire Theatre is the release by Air Traffic Control of their new record “Can’t Kill Love” on April 28, 2010 at 7:00 PM. Many of you were treated to an impressive performance by Air Traffic Control during the Olympic Torch Relay event held in Lunenburg in November 2009. This promises to be an exciting kick-off event for many live performances to come in Bridgewater. Check out airtrafficcontrol.ca to learn more about this band. When details are confirmed about ticket sale locations, we will advise the public through the following websites: smartbridgewater.ca (Bridgewater Development Association); Bridgewater.ca (Town of Bridgewater); airtrafficcontrol.ca (Air Traffic Control).
