The Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) Initiative is a project designed to assist in creating an environment to help retain and expand local business by identifying challenges and helping facilitate actionable solutions. Data is collected by interviewing participating businesses in the Bridgewater area in an effort to identify issues and concerns that impede their growth. These interviews provide information about our business community and its needs that influence policy making from the municipal to national level.
The last time this project happened in 2006, the resulting data helped secure funding for a number of community projects like the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Center, Bridgewater Marina and the Riverfront Development Project. We are looking for volunteers to interview 100 businesses between February 15th and February 26th. Each volunteer would interview three businesses. Volunteers would also be required to attend a 2 hour training session on February, 17th from 5 to 7 PM in the boardroom at 373 King Street, Bridgewater. We have conducted two training sessions on February 10th and have another being held on February 11th.
The BRE initiative will cover Bridgewater and approximately a 10 KM radius in the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg.
This is a project of the Bridgewater Development Association and the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg's office of Economic Development.
