PRESS RELEASE – For immediate release by the Lunenburg County Multi Purpose Centre Board of Directors

The Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre is a reality!  The Centre will be constructed on Wentzell Drive in the Bridgewater Industrial Park at a capital cost of approximately $32M.

Today in the office of Paul Belliveau, Chairman of the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre, Mayor Carroll Publicover, Town of Bridgewater and Mayor Don Downe, Municipality of the District of Lunenburg announced with pride that an agreement had been worked out for their share of the funding for the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.

BPAS Bridgewater Performing Arts Group to hold Performances at Empire Theatres Studio 7 in Bridgewater.

Mayor Carroll Publicover has announced a business relationship between a newly established Performing Arts group in Bridgewater with Empire Theatres Studio 7. The Performing Arts group was formed to help create a venue for live performances in Bridgewater. Empire Theatre will provide use of one of its auditoriums to the Performing Arts Group for live performances as scheduling permits. Empire Theatres, is an excellent venue to showcase a variety of talent. The theatre has comfortable seating, great acoustics and provides a lobby and refreshments area to enhance services to people attending live music and theatre performances.

This great announcement today by the Government of Canada provides a major funding contribution of $10,350,000 which ensures that this multipurpose centre will provide a foundation for health, wellness, culture, recreation, competitive sport, social, economic and educational opportunities in Lunenburg County.

“This is a proud day for the volunteer board of directors and resource team members who have worked tirelessly, always with a positive outlook, to see the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre built in the county”, said Paul Belliveau, Chair, Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre Society Board of Directors.

GOVERNMENT OF CANADA GETS SHOVELS IN THE GROUND IN BRIDGEWATER

The Government of Canada is investing more than $400,000 in the revitalization of downtown Bridgewater under Canada’s Economic Action Plan. The announcement was made today by Gerald Keddy, Member of Parliament for South Shore-St. Margaret’s, on behalf of the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence and Minister for the Atlantic Gateway.

“The Government of Canada is providing timely, targeted stimulus to communities all along the South Shore by supporting the upgrade and renewal of community facilities,” said Gerald Keddy, Member of Parliament for South Shore-St. Margaret’s. “Our Government’s Economic Action Plan is stimulating the economy, creating jobs, and supporting communities hit hardest by the global economic slowdown.”
