Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is the largest shipbuilder in Canada, headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia. News of the $25 billion shipbuilding contract awarded to Irving Shipbuilding has generated much excitement and anticipation across Nova Scotia. It is unquestionably going to change the course of our economy for decades to come.
Economic partners across the province are gathering to share information and understand the requirements of this contract and how each region of the province can be involved. A series of Supplier Development Forums will be hosted to update relevant industries on the supply of products and services to Irving Shipbuilding.
The Bridgewater Development Association (BDA) is part of an inaugural group meeting to establish our strategy for the South Shore. The Lunenburg Queens Regional Development Agency (LQRDA) are currently in conversations with the Greater Halifax Partnership and Irving's HR Department to determine next steps. The BDA and other South Shore economic groups will be updated in early December on what is to be expected of this contract and how our businesses can benefit from employment generation and investment.
